The challenge
Connect local merchants and consumers through a product that could be built, launched and operated as a complete marketplace. Moka began in April 2025. After its acquisition by Ahí Va in May 2026, the challenge expanded to evolving an existing delivery and commerce platform.
My contribution
- Founded Moka and built its mobile applications, administration panel, backend services and cloud infrastructure.
- Owned product strategy, software architecture and the technical roadmap from launch through acquisition.
- Led the acquisition process and became Technical Lead at Ahí Va in June 2026.
Engineering decisions
- The current mobile migration moves Ahí Va from Ionic and Capacitor to React Native and Expo for Android and iOS.
- The backend redesign uses NestJS and PostgreSQL, alongside decisions about maintainability, cloud infrastructure and CI/CD.
- Migration and backend evolution are ongoing work, not presented as completed deliveries.
Outcome
Moka reached more than 1,500 verified users and 30 active merchants before its acquisition by Ahí Va. These figures describe Moka before acquisition, rather than current Ahí Va usage. The image above shows the current public Ahí Va website.
